An Hour Before The Races

It was an hour before the races
And all across the lot,
Every racer was comparing,
And all were bragging a lot.
Not a six cylinder could be seen
For everyone had a built small block.
Each was weaving his tale
About how it was only stock.
Engines were roaring to life,
And racing slicks were put on.
Everyone was getting ready,
From the novice to the well-known.
VHT was put on the track
So that the tires wouldn't spin.
The christmas tree was tested,
And the intercom crackled in.
The time was finally here,
And as far as could be seen,
The cars were lined up.
Then, ready, set, GREEN!
