(a cento poem...)
Had we but world enough, and time,
I will listen to what you say.
I wandered lonely as a cloud,
So nature deals with us and takes us away.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
An aged thrush, frail, gaunt, and small,
Arrives the snow, and, driving o'er the fields,
The troubled sky reveals the grief it feels.
When you see me sitting quietly,
My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains.
I'm the same person I was back then,
Which is no more than what is false and vain.
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair
And miles to go before I sleep,
I have a rendezvous with Death;
God knows were better to be deep.

A New Word Order
I've been writing poetry on and off since 1988. I am adding them here as a way to collect them together in one place. I'm posting them from oldest to newest so that I can continue to add more as I write them.

You Are My GALAXY
Even if we could PLANET,
Our love wouldn't be more right.
It's like looking at the SUN,
My feelings for you are so bright.
You put STARS in my eyes
When you are home to stay.
Sadly, I MOON for you
When you are far away.
You ECLIPSE all others
With your loving ways.
A BLACK HOLE would form
If you weren't in my days.
Like heat from a SOLAR FLARE,
My desire burns truly intense.
I need you within my ORBIT,
So that it all makes sense.

On Our Seventh Anniversary
Today I take a moment to thank God
For the blessings in my present day.
A foundation from laughter and trials
Made us one in our yesterdays.
It doesn't go in waste or vain
The love you've given me.
I am sincerely left in wonder
and awe at its degree.
We become the singular.
Were I am, you are and
Two living in harmony-
Holding our life hand in hand.
Sharing the treasures of our days,
the secret moments we keep,
I tell you once again today
My love runs true and deep.

My GOAL is You
(a hockey love poem...)
You're the ICING on top;
I'm HOOKED, its true.
OVER TIME I've known
My GOAL is you!
No INTERFERENCE can
BREAK AWAY my heart.
I am in the ZONE-
FULL STRENGTH from the start.
KICKING back in the evening,
HOLDING you close at night-
My love doesn't SHIFT
If you DIVE out of sight.
Let me get to the POINT
And lay it on the LINE.
No FIGHTING this feeling;
Your heart is HOLDING mine.

Lymerick for Erik
There was a man from Moundville
Who gave me a quick thrill.
He let me ride his bone;
Then he drove me home.
My heart raced with his skill.
There was a man from Moundville
Who gave me a slow drill.
He took his sweet time
And lube me up fine.
I'll surely be back for a refill.
There was a man from Moundville
Who gave me a sweet chill
I knew he'd always be mine,
My forever Valentine,
And love him always, I will.

Grow Old with Me
Five years ago we planted our life
In one pot when I became your wife.
Roots have dug strong and deep
So what was sown, we will reap.
Solid and straight it has grown,
A pattern impossible to clone.
Weathering storms and time,
Higher it continues to climb.
Branching and blooming it goes;
Our care and time of it shows.
As we see our love blossom and spread,
Grow old with me in the many years ahead.

The French Kiss
Just a fraction of an inch,
Hot breath mingling between,
The distance is closed
With just a little lean.
Tentative lips meet,
Hopeful and needy.
It doesn't take me long
To become a bit greedy.
I must get a taste
To slake the desire.
Our tongues suddenly touch
Like the shock of a wire.
Electricity flows
Between you and me
As the kiss deepens,
Then we break free.
I part with a sigh,
Feeling week and light.
Being so close to you
Feels absolutely right.
